Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters
1. On models with airbags, disarm airbag system as described under "Maintenance Procedures/Airbag System Disarming."Fig. 79 Engine Controller Connector:
2. On all models, unplug 60-way engine controller harness connector.
3. Remove speed control switch, and disconnect four way connector.
4. Connect an ohmmeter between terminal 23 of engine controller and pin four of speed control switch harness.
5. If continuity does not exists, repair wire circuit as needed.
6. If continuity exists, refer to `SPEED CONTROL SWITCH TEST'. Connect speed control switch connector.
7. Turn ignition switch to ON position and speed control switch to OFF position, connect voltmeter to terminal 53, no voltage should be pressent.
8. Place speed control switch in ON position, connect voltmeter to terminal 53, voltage should be present. If no voltage is present, repair wire between pin 53 and pin 3 of speed control servo.
9. Move speed control switch to OFF position, connect voltmeter to terminal 33, voltage should not be present.
10. Move speed control switch to OFF position, connect voltmeter to terminal 33, voltage should be present. If no voltage is present, repair wire between pin 33 and pin 4 of speed control servo.
11. Connect one lead of an ohmmeter to ground and the other lead to terminal 29. With the brake pedal released continuity should exist. With brake pedal depressed continuity should not exist.
12. If continuity exists when pedal is depressed, check for continuity between terminal 29 of engine controller and pin 3 of stop lamp connector. If no continuity exists, repair wiring. If continuity does exist test stop lamp switch. Refer to Vehicle Lighting/Brake Light Switch/Testing and Inspection/Procedures.
13. If stop lamp switch test is satisfactory, test continuity between pin six of stop lamp switch and ground.
14. Connect one lead of ohmmeter to ground and one lead to pin 30, place gear shift lever in Drive, continuity should not exist. Place selector in Park or Neutral, continuity should exist.
15. On models with airbags, arm airbag as described under "MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING."
