Visual Inspection Chart

Visual Inspection Chart:

The Visual Inspection consists of an inspection of easily accessible components which could cause an anti-lock system malfunction. A thorough visual inspection may quickly identify the cause of a malfunction and eliminate the need for additional diagnostic procedures.

1. Check for low brake fluid level and/or system leakage which could cause low hydraulic pressure.
2. Check all fuses and grounds.
3. Check for correct mating of all connectors
4. Check connectors for damage or corrosion.
5. Check component wiring for damage.

Visually inspect system components and their connectors as described below prior to performing diagnostic tests.

1. Inspect brake fluid level, and ensure that fluid is not contaminated. To establish proper fluid level, fully depress brake pedal 40 times prior to inspection.
2. Inspect brake lines and master cylinder for leaks and/or damage.
3. Inspect Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) hydraulic unit for leaks, and ensure that electrical connectors are not damaged or disconnected.
4. Inspect Power Distribution Center (PDC) and ensure that all ABS relays are properly installed.
5. Inspect CAB for a secure mounting, and ensure that its electrical connector is not damaged or loose.
6. Inspect all wheel speed sensors (WSS) and their connectors for damage or improper connections.
