NO.: 08-12-92

GROUP: Electrical

DATE: Jul. 13, 1992

SUBJECT:
Ignition Key Difficult To Remove

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE AND A CONSOLE MOUNTED FLOOR SHIFTER.

MODELS:

1992 (AA) Acclaim/Spirit/LeBaron Sedan
(AG) Daytona
(AJ) LeBaron Coupe/LeBaron Convertible
(AP) Sundance/Shadow/Shadow Convertible

DISCUSSION:

In 1992, the listed models are equipped with an ignition interlock system that requires the automatic transaxle console mounted shifter to be in the PARK position. It also requires that the shift knob pushbutton be in the up position, before the key can be removed. These instructions are in the owner's manual.

Also, drivers should be aware that key removal may require a slight additional forward motion of the console shifter after the PRNDL indicates PARK.
