Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
Fuel Filter:
Warning: The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel pressure before servicing any fuel system component.
Removal
1. Release fuel system pressure.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal
3. Raise, and support the vehicle for access.
4. Loosen fuel filter hose clamps and remove the fuel hoses from the inlet and outlet fuel filter nipples. Remove the mounting bracket bolt, and remove the filter.
Installation
1. Install the new filter assembly on the mounting plate. Be sure the direction of flow matches the markings on the filter.
2. Install the mounting bolt, and torque to 8 Nm (75 lb-in)
3. Install the inlet and outlet hoses, and tighten clamps to 1 Nm (10 lb-in). Lower the vehicle, and connect the negative battery cable.
Note: ASD and fuel pump relays remain energized for 7 minutes during the following test, unless the test is stopped or the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position.
4. Using scan tool, place ignition switch in "RUN" position and use Actuate Output Test "Auto Shutdown (ASD) Relay", to activate fuel pump and pressurize system.
5. Check for leaks.
