System Description: Overview
The vehicle systems that are a part of the "body" system are the:- Automatic Door Locks
- Courtesy Lamps
- Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC)
- EVIC Head Monitor
- Headlamp Doors
- Illuminated Entry
- Intermittent Wipers
- Vehicle Theft Alarm
The body system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Chrysler Collision Detection multiplex system (CCD) bus. Through the CCD bus, information about the operation of vehicle components and circuits is relayed quickly to the appropriate module(s). Each module receives the same information about a component or circuit as another module does. This significantly reduces the complexity of the wiring in the vehicle and the size of wiring harnesses.
All of the information about the functioning of all of the systems is organized, controlled, and communicated by the "CCD bus," which is described in the following article.
