IMPORTANT RECALL INFORMATION

To: Affected Dodge and Chrysler Dealers

Subject: Recall No.489 Vehicle Theft Security System Module

Models: 1991 Dodge Dynasty, Chrysler Salon, and Chrysler Fifth Avenue Models -- Built Before August 2, 1990 (0802XX) With Remote Keyless Security Alarm

Problem:

The security alarm will perform the warning functions, but may not prevent starting of the engine. Also, electronic instrument cluster, electronic vehicle information center (EVIC) and/or the electronic four speed automatic transmission operation may be affected.

Action:

Our records indicate that one or more of the suspect vehicles has been shipped to your dealership (see list following). Replace the theft security system module on involved vehicles as outlined in the 1991 Front Wheel Drive Electrical, Fuel, and Emissions Service Manual, page 8Q-4, Figure 3.

Replacement modules will be shipped to your location; Attention: Service Manager.

This service must be performed prior to retall delivery. Owners who have already taken retail delivery should be contacted and arrangements made for replacement of the alarm module.

Use the following labor operation and time allowance for reimbursement.

Parts Return:

Removed components must be returned to Warranty Return Center.
