DR-45A No Fault Code Mechanical Test

At this point in the diagnostics, the engine control system has been ruled out as a possible cause for the driveability problem. Therefore, the following items should be checked:

1. ENGINE VACUUM -- Must be at least 13 in Hg in neutral.
2. ENGINE VALVE TIMING -- Set to manufacturer's specifications.
3. ENGINE COMPRESSION -- Must read within manufacturer's specifications.
4. ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM -- must not have any restrictions.
5. ENGINE PCV SYSTEM -- must not have any restrictions.
6. ENGINE DRIVE SPROCKETS -- cam and crank shaft.
7. TORQUE CONVERTER STALL SPEED -- to manufacturer's specifications.
8. POWER BRAKE BOOSTER -- Check for internal vacuum leaks.
9. FUEL CONTAMINATION -- Check for high alcohol and water contents.
10. FUEL INJECTOR -- Check for plugged or restricted injector, control wires correctly routed.

NOTE: If you were directed to this test from the oxygen sensor and the rich or lean condition is not caused by one of the above items, replace the engine controller.
