System Description and Functional Operation

The vehicle systems that are a part of the "body" system are the:

- EVIC Panel Monitor
- Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC)
- Vehicle Theft Alarm
- Headlamp Doors
- Automatic Door Locks
- Intermittent Wipers
- Illuminated Entry
- Courtesy Lamps
- Traveler
- Compass Temperature Module

The body system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the CCD bus. Through the CCD bus, information about the operation of vehicle components and circuits is relayed quickly to the appropriate module(s). Each module receives the same information about a component or circuit as another module does. This significantly reduces the complexity of the wiring in the vehicle and the size of wiring harnesses.

All of the information about the functioning of all of the systems is organized, controlled, and communicated by the "CCD bus," which is described in the following sections.
