Quick Connect Fuel Fittings Operation


NOTE:These fittings are designed to handle higher system pressure as well as make installation and removal of the fuel lines faster.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the gas tank cap to release fuel tank pressure.
3. Perform fuel system pressure release procedure. Service and Repair
4. Clean fitting to prevent contamination of the system when the system is opened.
. Wrap hoses with shop towels to contain any fuel spray and catch spilled fuel.

Quick Connect Fittings:




6. Push in on the black plastic ring on the end of the fitting and pull the quick connector from the fuel tube. If more force is needed an open end wrench may be used to push the plastic ring into the nipple.
7. Cover the open ends of the fuel tube to prevent contamination.
CONNECTION
NOTE: Before connecting a quick connect fitting lubricate the fuel tube nipples (male end of the tube) with clean 30 wt engine oil.
1. Make sure the black plastic ring is in the OUT position. If the black plastic locking ring is stuck in the IN or RELEASE position due to distortion of the tube or dirt in the fitting the fitting must be replaced.
2. Insert the fuel tube nipple into the fitting.
3. To ensure a secure connection pull the fitting apart.
4. Using the appropriate tester (DRB II) or equivalent scanner, place ignition switch in "RUN" position and use Actuate Output Test "Auto Shutdown (ASD) Relay", to activate fuel pump and pressurize system.

CAUTION: The ASD relay and the fuel pump relay will remain energized for 7 minutes during this test unless the test is stopped or the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position.
5. Check for leaks.
