NOTIFICATION - FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK OPERATION

Dear Chrysler Corporation Vehicle Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Chrysler Corporation has determined that the Owner's Manuals for 1991 model Dodge Daytona and Chrysler LeBaron Coupe/Convertible cars contain an error which relates to the operation of the front passenger door lock system in your vehicle.

We ask that you read the following information and inform others that use your car.

The Owner's Manual states (Daytona - pages 5 and 6 and LeBaron - page 6) under the heading of DOOR LOCKS that "Once the doors have been locked, they cannot be opened from the inside until the lock control has been pulled up. The exception to this is the driver's door, which can be opened by the inside door handle."

On your car, the front passenger's door can also be opened by using the inside door handle even if the door has been locked. This is how both the passenger and driver doors were designed to operate. Therefore, front seat passengers should be made aware that the inside door handle is to be used only to open the door when the car is stopped.

If you have any questions regarding the information in this notification, please contact the Chrysler Zone Service Office in your area. (It is listed under "Service Assistance" in your Owner's Manual.)

Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Please fold this letter and insert it in the Owner's Manual for both your and a possible future owners reference.
