Verification Test VER-1

1. Inspect the vehicle for loose, missing, or damaged vacuum lines and/or electrical wires/connections. Repair as necessary.
2. Try to start the engine. If the engine will not start, go to test NS-1A.
3. IF THE ENGINE STARTS AND THE ENGINE CONTROLLER HAS BEEN CHANGED:
a. If the vehicle is equipped with a factory theft alarm, start the vehicle at least 20 times to make the theft alarm operational.
b. The no start condition has been corrected.
4. IF THE ENGINE IS ABLE TO START AND THE ENGINE CONTROLLER HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED:
a. Connect the scan tool to the engine diagnostic connector and erase faults.
b. The no start condition has been corrected and fault messages have been erased.
5. Check for any remaining fault codes:
a Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
b. Run the engine at 2000 rpm for at least 10 seconds, then allow the engine to idle.
c. For an automatic transmission equipped vehicle, apply the brakes (parking and service), and cycle through all gear ranges, returning to PARK when finished.
d. For an A/C equipped vehicle, turn on the A/C and set the blower to low speed.
e. Shut off the engine, then restart the engine and allow it to idle for at least 2 minutes.
f. Turn off the engine, connect the scan tool, and read any fault codes present.
6. If the repaired fault has reset, check for applicable Technical Service Bulletins and go to test DR-1A, if necessary.
7. If a different fault appears, go to test DR-1A and follow the repair procedures listed for the fault.
8. If no other faults are displayed, the repair is complete.
