42A No Response Messages
There are three ways to get to this test.1. The DRBII is currently connected to the CCD bus diagnostic connector and you have selected ENGINE from the main menu.
2. A Bus Failure Message flow chart is required to complete the repair.
3. The DRBII showed a "NO RESPONSE" message when an attempt was made to read information from a module*.
If item 1 is the reason you are here, you must either select an appropriate selection from the menu (BODY, CHASSIS, TRANSMISSION, OR VEHICLE THEFT ALARM) or, if you want to perform powertrain tests, connect the DRBII to the SCI connector in the engine compartment.
If item 2 is true, perform the tests below as required.
If item 3 is the reason you are here, you should check the Electronic Instrument Cluster firs Through our research we have determined that an open bus (+) wire at the E.I.C. can cause the EVIC head to flash "IMPROPER VOLTAGE" and "AIR SUSPENSION" messages inappropriately. It can cause all the segments on the E.I.C. to be missing, the bus failure message "SHORT TO GROUND" or "NOT READING BUS MESSAGES CORRECTLY" to flash once when checking the bus, and most importantly, it will cause the DRBII to show a "NO RESPONSE" under each module.

* It is possible to communicate with or monitor the Engine Controller at both the SCI and the CC diagnostic connectors. Monitor the engine controller for a "NO RESPONSE" by selecting SYSTEM TEST under any of the module test selection menus.
