Campaign - Engine Valve Spring: Overview

89Chrysler16

No. 466

October, 1989
To: All Dodge and Chrysler-Plymouth Dealers

Subject: Customer Satisfaction Notification # 466 -- Engine Valve Spring

Models: The Following 1990 Models Equipped With the 3.3L V-6 Engine:

^ C- & Y-Body Cars -- Chrysler New Yorker, Fifth Avenue and Dodge Dynasty LE

^ S-Body Grand Models -- Grand Voyager, Grand Caravan, Grand Caravan CN and Town & Country

Some engine valve springs may break early in vehicle life on the listed model vehicles equipped with the 3.3L engine, due to a supplier heat treat defect. To prevent such breakage all engine valve springs on involved vehicles in dealer inventory must be replaced before retail delivery.

Use the Vehicle Lists mailed to involved dealers with the letter of October 20, 1989 from R.N. Rossi to identify the involved vehicles. Vehicles already delivered are not included in this service program at this time.

Sufficient parts packages will be distributed to involved dealers for repair of all affected vehicles. To minimize delay, replacement parts will be distributed periodically as they are received and packaged. Initial shipments should reach dealers by October 30. Distribution should be completed about mid-November.

Details of this service action are explained in the following sections. As an additional service aid, a videotape demonstrating the service procedure will be included in the November, 1989 Master Tech program.
