Compressor Clutch Relay: Description and Operation

Relay Location/Identification:

The Air Conditioning (A/C) clutch relay is powered by the radiator fan relay A/C switch and the engine controller (exc. variable displacement system) and controlled by the engine controller. This relay is ON (ENERGIZED) when the engine is RUNNING, the A/C switch is ON, and the blower switch is ON. When the engine controller receives an input signalling wide open throttle or low idle rpm, it will DE-ENERGIZE the relay, preventing A/C operation.
