Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair


Disable airbag, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair. After procedure has been completed, rearm airbag system.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove switch pod assembly as follows:
a. Pry up edge of panel vent grille, using a straightedge to disengage retaining clips, then remove grille.
b. Remove two attaching screws located under panel vent grille.
c. Remove two outboard attaching screws located under switch pod assembly.
d. Pull switch pod rearward to remove and simultaneously disconnect all wiring connections.
e. Remove switch pod assembly.
3. On models with tilt column, remove tilt lever.
4. On all models, remove upper and lower steering column covers.
5. Remove cluster trim bezel by pulling rearward to disengage retaining clips.
6. Remove four cluster attaching screws and pull cluster rearward.
7. Tilt cluster to disconnect all wiring connectors and turbo gauge hose, if equipped, then remove cluster assembly.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
