Instrument Cluster - Printed Circuit Board Update

DISCUSSION

The original instrument cluster printed circuit board uses a dial pin adapter between the gauges and the printed circuit board (Figure 1). On replacement circuit boards the dial pins and circuit boards are one piece (Figure 2). The dial pin configuration on the new printed circuit board is the same as the old circuit board with the dial pin adapters installed. When replacing an IP circuit board the following procedure should be followed.


1. Remove the cluster assembly.

2. Remove the tachometer drive module and the lamp sockets.

3. Remove the mask and lens assembly.

4. Remove the tachometer and other gauge assemblies.

5. Disconnect the speedometer pigtail connector and remove speedometer.

6. Remove the dial adapter attaching nuts (Dial adapters are not needed with new printed circuit board).

7. Remove the printed circuit board and attaching screws.

8. Install the new printed circuit board and attaching screws.

9. Connect speedometer adapter making sure it engages.

10. Install the tachometer, other gauges and attaching screws.

11. Install the mask and lens assembly.

12. Install the tachometer drive module and the lamp sockets.

13. Install the cluster assembly.
