When installing piston and rod assemblies, cylinders 1, 3 and 5 should have the ``R'' facing forward, and cylinders 2, 4 and 6 should have the ``L'' facing forward. The connecting rod must always have the ``72'' mark facing forward, Fig. 23.

Connecting rod bearing clearance should be 0.001 - 0.003 inch and rod side clearance should be 0.004 - 0.010 inch.
