BODY CODE LEGEND AA - ACCLALM LE/LX/LEBARON
SYMPTOM/CONDITION Some of the early built Plymouth Acclaim LE and LX models and Chrysler 4dr LeBaron models may exhibit lower body side moldings with loose plastic inserts on one or more of the moldings. This condition is a cold weather condition that is caused by the failure of the adhesive between the plastic insert and metal molding frame.
DIAGNOSIS
ACCLAIM LE and LX MODELS
When Acclaim LE and LX models built prior to MDH 01-17-XX are returned with a loose lower body side molding insert, all eight pieces of the molding must be inspected for proper insert retention. Moldings should be visually inspected as well as checked by grasping and pulling with the hand. All moldings found with loose inserts, must be replaced as described in the repair procedure. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR LOOSE MOLDING INSERTS.
LeBARON 4dr MODELS
Early LeBaron 4dr models built prior to MDH 01-17-XX have a Type One lower side body molding insert (see below). When a vehicle is returned with a loose Type One lower body side molding insert, all eight lower side body moldings must be replaced with moldings with Type Two inserts. Moldings with Type One inserts are not available. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR LOOSE MOLDING INSERTS.
