Convertible Top: Testing and Inspection
Insufficient fluid in the hydraulic system, or failure to have the by-pass valve fully closed may cause top to raise slowly or cause abnormal noise in the pump and motor during operation. With the top in the up position, remove the reservoir fill plug. Visually inspect fluid level. If low, look for a leak due to the broken line, loose connections, or damaged connector seals. Repair or replace components, as necessary. Fill reservoir until fluid runs out of filler hole.CAUTION: Use only Dexron II, Type A, Transmission Fluid. Replace fill plug and operate top through a full cycle. Recheck reservoir fluid level and fill as necessary.
If the fluid level is adequate and there is difficulty in putting the top up or down, check to see If the by-pass valve is fully closed. It may be necessary, in some cases, for the knob to be removed (by loosening 2 set screws) and carefully tightening the shaft (clockwise) and replace the knob.
