If a DRB II or equivalent scan tool, is not available, the following procedure can be performed with a suitable volt/ohmmeter:
1. With ignition switch in On position, ground diagnostic input pin 21 at VDCM.
2. Grounding pin 21 causes the ADCM to run the motor(s) in the shocks/struts until they reach the selected damping position. The VDCM will stop driving the motor(s) once they reach the selected damping position.
3. Check voltages at the following pins:
a. Pin 16, right rear shock motor.
b. Pin 18, left rear shock motor.
c. Pin 20, right front strut motor.
d. Pin 22, left front strut motor.
4. A measurement of 12 volts indicates a shock or strut not in the correct position.
5. Repeat step 3 with the system in each of the three damping settings.
6. To check the complete system, select each position (Soft, Norm and Firm) while observing the selector switch, LEDs and PFS circuits using the DRB II or a volt/ohmmeter.
