UPDATE INFORMATION

In late 1989, the A-604 input assembly was updated to help prevent damage caused by cross leaks between the overdrive and underdrive clutch circuits. Several parts were changed to accommodate this update.




There is an update kit available from Chrysler under Part # 5241088 which includes:

^ New 4-ring pump assembly
^ New input clutch hub
^ New input clutch hub 0-rings
^ New spacer plate

A new input retainer is also required on some models, which is not included in the update kit.

Chrysler also recommends replacement of the controller if it is part # 5234623 or # 52346499.




Ring bore is deeper to accept 4 ring stator




New input hub has wider (.125) 0-ring grooves than previous models, and new larger (.103) cross-section O-rings.

RETAINER




If your retainer has no bump then you can re-use it. If it has a bump, you must either replace it or have the bump machined off. NEVER use a retainer with a bump on it.
