Description

No. 526

January, 1992

To: All Dodge, Chrysler-Plymouth and Jeep/Eagle Dealers

Subject:
Safety Recall # 526 -- Anti-lock Brake System High Pressure Hose

Models:
The Following Vehicles Equipped With the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS):

^ Late-1990 Model Year and 1991 Model Year Dodge Dynasty, Chrysler New Yorker, Fifth Avenue and Imperial (AC/AY-Body)

^ 1991 Model Year Plymouth Voyager and Grand Voyager, Dodge Caravan, Grand Caravan and Caravan C/V (AS-Body)

^ 1991 Model Year Eagle Premier and Dodge Monaco (BB-Body)

On involved vehicles, the crimped end fitting of the anti-lock brake system (ABS) high pressure hose may blow off or leak. A revised hose is required.

Vehicles must be inspected to identify and replace the original equipment hose. Vehicles already equipped with the revised, service-installed hose do not require further service for the condition.

Important:
Some of the involved vehicles may still be in dealer stock. Be sure to complete the service on these vehicles before retail delivery.

Details of this service action are explained in the following sections.

Note:
As an additional service aid, a videotape demonstrating the service procedure is included in the January, 1992 Master Tech and VideoTec programs.

Vehicle List

Each dealer to whom involved vehicles were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location) will receive with this letter a vehicle list arranged in Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) sequence. Owners known to Chrysler are also listed. The lists are for dealer reference in arranging for service of involved vehicles.

Each Dodge, Chrysler-Plymouth and Jeep/Eagle dealer without a Vehicle List will receive an information copy of this letter by Compak Mail for use in performing the service on any involved transient vehicles.
