Suspension Control Module: Description and Operation

The Air Suspension Control Module (ASCM), controls the ground circuits for: the compressor relay, compressor exhaust solenoid valve, and front and rear solenoid valves. A microprocessor within the ASCM limits compressor pump operation to between 170 and 190 seconds, to prevent damage to the Automatic Air Suspension (AAS) system.
To prevent excessive cycling between the compressor and the exhaust solenoid circuits during normal ride conditions, a 12-18 second delay is incorporated in the microprocessor logic.
System operation is inhibited when a door(s) is open, the trunk is open, the service brakes are applied, or the throttle position sensor signal is 65-100% of maximum. System operation is also inhibited during high speed cornering. The control module is on the CCD bus system.
