Neutral Safety Switch: Description and Operation

Neutral Safety Switch (A/T):

On automatic transmission equipped vehicles, a gear selection indicator signal is sent to the Single Board Engine Controller (SBEC) by the PARK/NEUTRAL safety switch. When the SBEC receives a signal that the transmission is in gear, it will adjust engine idle speed, injector pulse width, and ignition timing to compensate for the additional engine load.
