Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair


1. Using tool No. C-4589, or equivalent, remove the oxygen sensor.
2. After removal, clean the threads in the exhaust using an 18 mm X 1.5 X 6E tap.
3. If reinstalling the same sensor, apply a suitable anti-seize compound (Loctite# 771-64 or equivalent) to the threads of the sensor. New sensors are packaged with an anti-seize compound already applied to the threads and no further application is needed.
4. When installing the sensor, torque to 20 lbs. ft. (27 N-m).
