Cycling Clutch Switch Test
Harness Connector:
Without the ambient temperature in the test area around 21°C (70°F) disconnect wiring harness connector from switch. use a wire jumper to jump from pin #1 to pin #3 on the wiring harness connector. If the compressor clutch engages remove the switch from evaporator package and replace.
If the compressor clutch cycles on and off 2 to 3 times per minute with temperature between 20° to 30°C (68° to 90°F), the cycling clutch switch is normal. if the compressor clutch fails to engage, check for an open electrical circuit. Above 32°C (90°F) the compressor clutch may be continuously engaged (non cycling) due to the high heat load: this condition is normal.
