Variable Displacement Compressor

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove necessary components to gain access to the front of the compressor.

Front Plate Retaining Nut:




2. Remove clutch retaining center nut.

3. Using a suitable puller, remove the clutch front plate from the assembly. When installing the front plate, select the proper shims to achieve a 0.9mm (0.035 in.) air gap to the pulley surface. To install front plate, align shaft key to groove in front plate hub and push on until it seats, measure the air gap.

4. Remove clutch pulley retaining snap ring and pull the pulley from the assembly.
5. Remove the clutch coil wire lead strap screw.

6. Remove clutch coil retaining snap ring and pull the coil from the assembly. When installing the clutch coil, align the pin on the front of the compressor to the middle hole in the hub of the coil and position the pin in the snap ring gap.

To install, reverse the preceding operation.
