SERVICE BULLETIN: Some 1990 3.3L/V6-202 engines may exhibit an oil leak at the rear of the engine. This leak may be misdiagnosed as a rear crankshaft seal or oil pan leak. This leak may be the result of one or more of the four untapped holes in the rear crankshaft flange being drilled too deep.
If the oil leak is from this condition, the following procedure involves installing four cap plugs in the crankshaft flange. Obtain four cap plugs part No. T3075032 and Stud N' Bearing Mount part No. 4318032, and proceed as follows:
1. Remove transaxle refer to Transmission and Drivetrain/Manual Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair.
2. Remove flywheel or flex plate from rear of crankshaft.
3. Thoroughly clean and dry the four untapped holes in the crankshaft flange.
4. Lightly coat the outside diameter of one cap plug with Stud N' Bearing Mount.
5. Using a 5/16 inch diameter blunt nose punch, drive the cup plug into one of the holes until the end of the plug is slightly below the surface of the flange.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the three remaining holes.
7. Install the flywheel or flex plate then install the transaxle.
