8 Fault Message-Inj 1 & Inj 2 Control Circuit
Perform No Start Test 1 before proceeding.
1. Turn ignition switch Off and disconnect 60-way connector at SMEC.
2. Inspect connector terminals for damage. If terminals are damaged, repair as necessary, then proceed to Test 16.
3. If terminals are satisfactory, connect a jumper between terminal No. 58 of 60-way connector and ground.
4. Connect a remote starter switch between terminal No. 33 of 60-way connector and the positive battery terminal.
5. With starter switch at a safe distance from battery, turn ignition switch On.
6. Rapidly press and release remote starter switch several times while touching injectors 1 and 2, listening for clicking.
7. If injectors did not click, proceed as follows:
a. Turn ignition switch Off and disconnect 14-way connector from SMEC.
b. Inspect terminals for damage. If terminals are damaged, repair as necessary, then proceed to Test 16.
c. If terminals are satisfactory, connect an ohmmeter between terminal No. 33 of 60-way connector and terminal No. 8 of 14-way connector.
d. If ohmmeter shows continuity, replace the SMEC, then proceed to Test 16.
e. If ohmmeter shows no continuity, repair open in violet/yellow wire between terminal No. 8 of 14-way connector and terminal No. 33 of 60-way connector, then proceed to Test 16.
8. If injectors clicked, proceed as follows:
a. With jumper wire still connected between terminal No. 58 of 60-way connector and ground and ignition On, connect remote starter switch between terminal No. 32 of 60-way connector and the positive battery terminal.
b. Rapidly press and release remote starter switch several times while touching injectors 3 and 4 with your fingers and listening for clicks.
c. If injectors clicked, replace SMEC and perform Test 16.
d. If injectors did not click, turn ignition switch Off.
e. Disconnect 14-way connector from SMEC and inspect terminals for damage. If terminals are damaged, repair as necessary, then proceed to Test 16.
f. If terminals are satisfactory, connect ohmmeter between terminal No. 32 of 60-way connector and terminal No. 5 of 14-way connector.
g. If ohmmeter shows continuity, replace the SMEC and perform Test 16.
h. If ohmmeter shows no continuity, repair open in gray/white wire between terminal No. 32 of 60-way connector and terminal No. 5 of 14-way connector and perform Test 16.
