SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Vehicle may exhibit a driveway'dieout at idle or when shifting. from PARK or NEUTRAL to DRIVE or REVERSE following cold engine starts at ambient temperatures below 32~F (O~C).
DIAGNOSIS
This condition will only occur on the first start after an overnight soak when the outside temperature is below 32~F 0~C). Following cold engine startup (using the recommended starting procedure), dieout may occur on extended idle and/or during PARK/NEUTRAL to DRIVE/REVERSE gear engagement at idle.
Before proceeding to the repair procedure, verify the system is functioning as designed using the appropriate diagnostic test procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
This repair involves the replacement of the original engine controller (SMEC) with a revised unit.
1. Replace engine controller with appropriate unit as called out in PARTS REQUIRED.
