NS-1A Checking For Spark at Spark Plugs

1. Disconnect a spark plug wire from spark plug and insert an insulated screwdriver into terminal.
2. Hold screwdriver shaft 1/4 inch from a good engine ground and crank engine for at least 7 seconds.
NOTE: Fault code erase and SMEC damage may occur if the spark plug wire is held more than 1/4 inch from ground.
3. If good spark is present, proceed to Test 2.
4. If very little or no spark is present, proceed to Test 1 step B.
5. If spark is present for about 5 seconds then stops, proceed to Test 9.
