NS-16A Fault Code 54 Distributor SYNC Pick-Up

Complete No Start Test 12, Step A, before proceeding.

1. Turn ignition switch Off, then disconnect distributor sync pickup electrical connector (gray).
2. Connect a voltmeter between terminal No. 3 and alternately contact terminal Nos. 1 and 2 of connector with ignition switch in Run position.
3. If voltmeter reads 7 or more volts at both cavities, replace distributor sync pickup. Before replacing pickup, ensure connector terminals are not spread apart, making a poor connection.
4. If voltmeter indicates no voltage at cavity 1, locate and repair open in wire between connector and wiring harness splice.
5. If voltmeter indicates no voltage at either cavity, locate and repair open in wire between cavity 3 and wiring harness splice.
6. If voltmeter indicates no voltage at cavity 2, proceed to Test 16 step B.
