NS-12 Checking System For Fault Codes

Complete No Start Test 1, Step C, before proceeding.

1. Connect diagnostic read-out tool to engine harness connector, then disconnect and reconnect battery quick disconnect.
2. Turn ignition switch to Run position for 5 seconds, crank engine for 7 seconds, then turn ignition switch to Run position for 5 seconds before turning off.
3. Place system in Diagnostic Mode and record all codes.
4. If no Code 88 or 00 is displayed, proceed to Test 13.
5. If code sequence is 88-11-12-55, distributor pickup circuit fault is present. Proceed to Test 14.
6. If code sequence is 88-42-55, auto shutdown relay pull in coil circuit fault is present. Proceed to Test 15.
7. If code sequence 88-12-44-55, is present, proceed to Test 17.
8. If code sequence is 88-12-54-55, distributor sync pickup circuit fault is present. Proceed to Test 16.
9. If code sequence is 88-12-14-22-24-55 or 88-12-14-22-23-24-55, is present. Locate and repair open circuit in wire from SMEC 60-way electrical connector terminal No. 4.
10. If code sequence is 88-12-15, no fault codes are present. Locate and repair open in dark green/black wire from auto shutdown relay.
