SYMPTOMS/CONDITION
Some vehicles equipped with 2.2L and some 2.5L engines may exhibit a loud buzzing noise from the engine oil pan and oil filter area at off idle engine speeds during engine warm-up. The buzzing noise is caused by the engine oil pump relief valve "shuttling" during engine oil warm-up. The buzzing noise will stop on a fully warm engine.
DIAGNOSIS
Start engine and listen for buzz noise at engine oil filter area and oil pan. A vibration can also be felt in the sumped (deep) portion of the oil pan while the buzz noise is occurring.
The buzz noise is a customer annoyance and does not lead to any engine durability loss or failure.
