Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair
The TBI fuel system is under a constant fuel pressure of approximately 100Kpa (15 psi). The Turbocharged fuel system is under a constant fuel pressure of approximately 330Kpa (48 psi). Before servicing the fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel filter or fuel components of the throttle body the fuel pressure must be released as follows.
1. Loosen gas cap to release any residual pressure in the fuel tank.
2. Remove electrical connector from fuel injector.
3. Ground one injector terminal with a jumper.
4. Connect a jumper wire to second injector terminal and touch battery positive post for no more than 10 seconds.
5. Remove jumper wires.
6. Continue fuel system service.
