Symptom/Condition, Diagnosis and Parts Required Information
SYMPTOM/CONDITIONSubject vehicles may exhibit holes in the top material or a bent folding top linkage. This problem may also be accompanied by a binding condition when cycling the top or a sag in the left or right corner of the top in the area of the third bow.
DIAGNOSIS
The different types of damage may be found alone or in combination on problem vehicles. A visual inspection will determine if you have any of the following conditions:
FIGURE 1:
1. Holes In Top Material (Figure 1)
The sail area of the convertible top, in the area of the feature strip, is most susceptible to cuts or tears that resemble "snake bites."
FIGURE 2:
2. Folding Top Linkage Bent (Figure 2)
The link that attaches to the number 3 bow is susceptible to bending or breaking at the area of the rivet hole.
