Motorola Manufactured Electronic Instrument Cluster: Overview
The attached listed Service Centers have the capability to exchange/repair the optional electronic instrument clusters manufactured for Chrysler by Motorola, Inc.
Motorola Electronic Cluster Exchange/Repair Procedure
Perform the diagnostic test as listed in the service manual. If it is determined after the test that cluster repair is necessary, perform the following procedure:
1. Contact the Authorized Motorola Service Center in your area per the attached list.
2. Provide the Service Center with the following information:
^ Dealer name and address
^ Telephone number
^ Requester's name
^ Zone and dealer code
^ Vehicle identification number (VIN)
^ Vehicle owner/customer name
^ Mileage/In-Service Date
^ Warranty or non-warranty
3. The Motorola Repair center will immediately ship an exchange unit.
4. Upon receipt of exchange component, an Equipment Manufacturer's Claim Request form must be completed as outlined in the Warranty Policy and Procedure Manual.
5. Package the failed component and the form in the same carton you received the exchange unit in.
6. Ship the failed component PREPAID AND INSURED ($250.00 coverage) to the same Service Center you received the exchange unit from.
NOTE: FAILURE TO RETURN THE FAILED UNIT TO THE SERVICE CENTER WITHIN FIFTEEN (15) DAYS WILL RESULT IN A CHARGE TO THE DEALER FOR THE EXCHANGE UNIT, PLUS SHIPPING. FAILURE TO RETURN THE FAILED UNITS ALSO CREATES A SHORTAGE OF EXCHANGE UNITS.
7. Prepaid transportation and insurance receipts must be retained by the dealer and the prepaid freight expense submitted, using Labor Operation No. 95-30-00-45, Electronic Component Freight and Insurance, in the sublet area of the repair claim.
NOTE: REMEMBER, FAILED UNIT MUST BE RETURNED TO THE SAME SERVICE CENTER YOU RECEIVED THE EXCHANGE UNIT FROM.
DO NOT RETURN THE FAILED PART TO THE WARRANTY MATERIAL RETURN CENTER.
Procurement of Motorola Electronic Instrument Cluster If Failed Component is Not Available
In certain cases, when it is necessary to obtain an electronic instrument cluster when a failed component is not available (such as for an insurance claim), refer to the latest parts catalog or fiche for the non-exchange part number.
The non-exchange electronic instrument cluster part is not reimbursable on a warranty claim (WRO).
The insurance and UPS charges are recoverable by submitting Labor Operation No. 95-30-00-45, Electronic Component Freight and Insurance, in the sublet area of the warranty repair order on which the radio repair was made.
NOTE: IT IS IMPORTANT THAT SHIPMENT BE MADE PREPAID, AS ALL COLLECT SHIPMENTS WILL BE REFUSED AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER.
Motorola Electronic Instrument Cluster Lens/Mask Replacement
In some cases, it may be necessary to replace only the lens of the electronic instrument cluster. This lens package is available under Mopar PN 4439001.
Complete installation instructions for the lens are covered in Technical Service Bulletin 08-09-86.
Huntsville Additional Electronic Component Exchange/Repair
The listed Regional Service Centers now have the capability to exchange/repair the following additional electronic components:
^ Serial Bus Traveler (EVIC system)
^ Electronic Monitors
^ Navigator and K-22 Trip Computers (repair only - no advance exchange)
^ Body Computer (base and premium)
The Huntsville Division Center will no longer exchange/repair electronic components. However, the toll-free telephone number (1-800-328-6121) will still be in operation to provide technical information pertaining to Huntsville manufactured electronic components.
Huntsville Electronic Component Exchange/Repair Instructions
1. Contact the Regional Service Center in your area from the attached list.
2. Provide the Service Center with the following information:

^ Part number of component

^ EMCR number
^ Purchase order number
3. Upon receipt of exchange component, an Equipment Manufacturer's Claim Request form must be completed as outlined in subject C6-22 of the Warranty Policy and Procedure Manual.
4. Package the failed component and the form in the same carton you received the exchange unit in.
5. Ship the failed electronic component PREPAID AND INSURED (minimum insurance value $250.00) to the same Service Center you received the exchange unit from.
NOTE: FAILURE TO RETURN THE FAILED UNIT TO THE SERVICE CENTER WITHIN FIFTEEN (15) DAYS WILL RESULT IN THE DEALER BEING CHARGED FOR THE EXCHANGE, PLUS TRANSPORTATION. FAILURE TO RETURN THE FAILED UNITS ALSO CREATES A SHORTAGE OF EXCHANGE UNITS.

Huntsville Out-of-Warranty Electronic Component Exchange
Out-of-warranty exchange/repair may be handled with your Regional Service Center.
