DR-20A Checking Basic Ignition Timing

Complete Driveability Test 19, Step A before proceeding.

This test must be performed with engine warm.

1. Connect a tachometer to engine, then connect a power timing light to engine.
2. Start and run engine until normal operating temperature is reached, then disconnect engine coolant sensor connector. Check engine lamp on instrument panel must come on.
3. If basic timing is within 2° of specifications, proceed to Test 20 step B.
4. If basic timing is not within 2° of specifications, adjust following basic ignition timing procedure.
