DR-1O Checking SMEC Ground Circuits

Complete Driveability Test 1, Step N before proceeding.

1. With diagnostic read-out tool connected to engine test connector, turn ignition switch Off, then disconnect SMEC 14-way and 60-way electrical connectors.
2. Connect one lead of a digital ohmmeter to a good ground, then probe terminal Nos. 2, 6 and 7 of 14-way connector and terminal Nos. 5, 15 and 16 of 60-way connector.
3. If ohmmeter shows less than 1/2 ohm resistance at all terminals, proceed to Test 16 if a cold problem or Test 18 if a warm problem.
4. If ohmmeter does not show continuity at one or more of terminals, locate and repair open circuit in wire to wiring harness connector. Replace SMEC.
5. If ohmmeter shows more than 1/2 ohm resistance at one or more of terminals, repair circuit for high resistance to system eyelet.
