DR-1E Brake Switch Input to SMEC (With Speed Control)
Complete Driveability Test 1, Step C before proceeding.
1. Turn ignition switch Off, then disconnect 60-way electrical connector from SMEC.
2. Connect an ohmmeter between 60-way electrical connector terminal No. 29 and ground.
3. Depress brake pedal, then release. Ohmmeter should indicate an open circuit when brake pedal is depressed and continuity when brake pedal is released.
4. If ohmmeter reads as indicates in step 3, replace SMEC.
CAUTION: Before replacing the engine control module, check the D40 terminal in cavity No. 29 of the 60-way connector to make sure it is not damage causing a poor connection.
5. If ohmmeter does not read as indicated in step 3, check for open circuit in wiring between terminal No. 29 and brake switch. Also check for defective brake lamp switch or an open circuit to stop lamps.
