5A Checking Ignition Timing

1. Connect suitable ignition timing device to engine.
2. While cranking engine, note position of ignition timing marks.
3. If ignition timing is between TDC and 16°BTDC, remove distributor cap and crank engine to ensure rotor is turning and properly indexed. Also check engine compression pressure and valve timing.
4. If ignition timing is not between TDC and 16°BTDC, proceed to step B.
