16B Checking 8 Volt Power Supply

Distributor Pickup Coil Harness Connector:

1. With distributor pick-up coil electrical connector disconnected and ignition switch in Run position, connect a voltmeter between pick-up coil electrical connector terminal No. 1 and ground.
2. If voltmeter reading is at least 7 volts, check to ensure distributor rotor rotates while engine is being cranked. If rotor rotation is satisfactory, replace distributor pick-up coil.

CAUTION: Before replacing the pick up check the terminals in the distributor harness connector to make sure they are not spread apart causing a poor connection.

3. If voltmeter indicates 0 voltage, check wiring from pick-up coil electrical connector terminal No. 1 for open circuit.
