SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Wind noise coming from the upper glass frame and B-pillar areas may be traced to sealing skips at the rear glass to guide and/or missing foam tape pad in the upper rear glass run, and sharp edges at the top of the rear glass guide step off between glass and glass guide.
DIAGNOSIS
Inspect the upper 2" of the rear glass guide for proper sealing along the inside surface.. Inspect the glass guide for sharp edges and for a step off between glass and glass guide.
PARTS REQUIRED
Mopar Silicone Sealer PN 4318025
Foam Tape PN 4416964
REPAIR PROCEDURE
The repair will consist of resealing the upper 2" of the rear glass guide.
FIGURE 1:
1. Using Mopar Silicone Sealer with a putty knife, carefully force the sealer into the guide cavity from the inside of the glass (Figure 1).
It is important the guide be sealed to the glass all the way to and including the top edge.
2. Clean any excess sealer from the glass and guide.
3. The top of the guide must be smooth and free of a step off and/or square edges.
4. Lightly file to the top of guide on a slight angle, starting from the rear angling down toward the glass. Also round side edges toward the top.
NOTE: IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO TOUCH UP FILED AREA WITH BLACK PAINT.
FIGURE 2:
5. Remove foam tape (see Figure 2) and clean area.
6. Install new foam tape in corner of upper weatherstrip.
7. Check glass in the full-up position for correct adjustment. Use paper to check if upper glass is seated tight against weatherstrip.
Glass Adjustment Procedure
8. Loosen the up stop nuts on the door inner belt reinforcement, the glass attaching nuts on the glass lift plate, and the glass stabilizer screw.
9. Loosen the two lower and one upper guide post screws and the bracket and liner assembly screw.
10. Raise the glass so that it just touches the weatherstrip.
11. Adjust the glass in-out position, tighten the top guide post screw, then the lower screws.
12. Align the glass in the opening.
13. Insert the end of a punch in the lift plate finger. Push down gently with the tool to eliminate the play between the lift plate and guide post.
14. Tighten the glass attaching nuts to 85 inch pounds while maintaining downward pressure on the tool.
15. Roll the window all the way down, then back to the full up position.
16. Tighten the up stop nut to 105 inch pounds.
17. Install the glass stabilizer by pushing it against the glass with enough pressure to collapse the stabilizer, approximately 50% while tightening the screw.
18. Torque the screw to 105 inch pounds.
19. Install the glass guide hook bracket and liner assembly by pulling inboard on the bracket against the finger on the lift plate while securing the screw.
20. Torque the screw to 105 inch pounds.
21. Run the window to the full up and full down position two times.
22. Visually check the adjustments.
