Effective immediately, Technical Service Bulletins issued after this date will use the body model code (Example: "J" Body) instead of the model name (Example: LeBaron) in the vehicle model section of the bulletin. This will help to clarify the vehicles to which the bulletin is applicable. For example, a 1987 LeBaron could be "K", "H", or "J" body. However, the bulletin may only apply to a "J" body vehicle. Using the name "LeBaron" in the model code would be confusing, and possibly lead to an incorrect repair.
The body code descriptions and tables can be found in the "Information" section of the service manual. The tables can also be found at the bottom of each text page in the parts manual or fiche. The DIAL II Technical Service Bulletin Index already uses this method to identify vehicles.
The following body model codes apply to 1987 vehicles. Please display in an area where all affected personnel are exposed to, and become familiar with, these model codes.
