P-Body 2-4 Door & K-Body 2-4 Door Sedan Information

P-Body 2-4 Door (Plymouth Sundance and Dodge shadow)

CAUTION: THIS PACKAGE IS ONLY FOR DEALER INSTALLATION IN 1987 AND LATER
MODELS LISTED ABOVE. DO NOT ATTEMPT INSTALLATION IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED PARTS.


Upper Rear Shoulder Belt Installation

1. Remove rear seat backs. Remove quarter trim panel.

2. From inside of car, locate the 0.15" (3.81 mm) hole in the quarter inner panel (Figure 7).

3. Using this hole as a pilot, drill a 7/16" hole out through the drain trough.

4. Temporarily hold the quarter trim panel back in place and, from outside the car, mark the hole location on the trim panel through the hole in the quarter inner panel onto the trim panel.

5 . Remove the trim panel and drill a 1/8" (3.18 mm) hole at the marked loca-

tion. Then enlarge the hole to 1" (25.4 mm). Reinstall the trim panel.

6. Install upper shoulder belt, PN 4476254, using the bronze colored bolt, PN 6033529 (6033529 is on the bolt head). White label on seat belt should face inside of car.

7. As shown in Figure 7, insert bolt through seat belt anchor plate. Then install washer, PN 6100129, on the bolt.

8. Insert the bolt and washer through the hole in the trim panel. (The washer must go through the trim and contact the metal panel.)

9. From outside the car, install the rubber sealing washer, PN 4440869, and the washer and nut assembly, PN 4440871 (Figure 7). Tighten bolt securely to 350 inch pounds torque.

10. Install trim cover, PN 4476258. Slide it on the seat belt anchor plate and bolt (Figure 7).

11. Repeat Steps 1 through 10 for the other side.


Lower Rear Shoulder Belt Installation

1. Remove the rear seat cushion and the attaching bolts (one per side) for the lower inner lap seat belts (Figure 7).

NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE OR REARRANGE THE EXISTING SEAT BELTS.
2. Discard the existing bolts and substitute the red colored bolts PN 6031216 in Step 3 (K-15 is on the bolt head).

3. Install lower shoulder belts, PN 4476257, on top of the existing lower inner seat belts. Tighten new bolts to 350 inch pounds torque (Figure 7). The white label on the seat belt should face down. Reinstall seat cushion and seat backs.

CAUTION: CHECK THAT BOTH THE LAP AND SHOULDER BELTS LATCH AND UNLATCH PROPERLY AND ARE INSTALLED AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 7. MAKE SURE THAT THE SEAT BELTS DO NOT CONTACT ANY SHARP EDGES THAT COULD CUT THE WEBBING.
K-Body 2-4 Door Sedan (Plymouth Reliant, Dodge Aries, Chrysler LeBaron, Dodge 400/600 (2-Door) Sedans)

CAUTION: THIS PACKAGE IS ONLY FOR DEALER INSTALLATION IN 1981 AND LATER MODELS LISTED ABOVE. DO NOT ATTEMPT INSTALLATION IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED PARTS.

Upper Rear Shoulder Belt Installation

1. From inside of trunk, locate the 7/16" hole (11.1 mm) in the hinge support (Figure 9). Drill a 1/8" (3.18 mm) pilot hole up through the center of the 7/16" hole and through the shelf panel and shelf trim. Drill left and right sides.

2. Remove shelf trim panel. Locate the 1/8" pilot holes in bulkhead/shelf panel silencer. Cut away a 2" (50 mm) diameter circle of silencer material at each hole.

3. Enlarge the 1/8" holes in the shelf trim panel to 1" (25 mm).

4. Enlarge the holes in the metal shelf panel and hinge support to 7/16" (11.11 mm) - (Figure 9).

5. Reinstall shelf trim panel.

6. Install upper shoulder belt, PN 4476254, using the silver colored bolt, PN 6031373 (K-19 is on the bolt head). The white label on the seat belt should face down (Figure 8).

7. As shown in Figure 8, insert bolt through seat belt anchor plate. Install washer, PN 6100129, on the bolt.

8. Insert bolt and washer through the hole in the shelf trim. (The washer must go through the trim and contact the metal shelf panel.) From the trunk, install flange nut, PN 152477 (Figure 9). Tighten nut securely to 350 inch pounds torque.

9. Install trim cover, PN 4476258. Slide it over the seat belt anchor plate and bolt (Figure 8).

10. Repeat Steps 6 through 9 for the other side.


Lower Rear Shoulder Belt Installation

1. Remove the rear seat cushion and the attaching bolts (one per side) for the lower inner lap seat belts (Figure 8).

NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE OR REARRANGE THE EXISTING SEAT BELTS.
2. Discard the existing bolts and substitute the red colored bolts, PN 6031216, in Step 3 (K-15 is on the bolt head).

3. Install lower shoulder belts, PN 4476257, on top of the existing lower inner seat belts and tighten the new bolts to 350 inch pounds torque (Figure 8). The white label on the seat belt should face down. Reinstall seat cushion.

CAUTION: CHECK THAT BOTH THE LAP AND SHOULDER BELTS LATCH AND UNLATCH PROPERLY AND ARE INSTALLED AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 8. MAKE SURE THAT THE SEAT BELTS DO NOT CONTACT ANY SHARP EDGES THAT COULD CUT THE WEBBING.
