L-Body 2-Door & L-Body 4-Door Information

L-Body 2-Door (Plymouth Turismo and Dodge Charger Two Door Hatchbacks)

CAUTION: THIS PACKAGE IS ONLY FOR DEALER INSTALLATION IN 1984 AND LATER MODELS LISTED ABOVE. DO NOT ATTEMPT INSTALLATION IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED PARTS.


Upper Rear Shoulder Belt Installation

1. Remove the quarter trim panel.

2. Cut out template (Figure 2) and place on exterior surface of the trim panel and mark location for the attachment hole. (Figure 3) (Use back side of template for left side.)
3. Remove silencer material from back side of this location for drill clearance.

4. Drill a 1/8" (3.18 mm) pilot hole through the trim panel at this location and then enlarge the pilot hole to 3/4" (19.05 mm).

5. Place reinforcement bracket, PN 4440893, in a vise and start screw, PN 9422202, in the small hole. Remove the screw.

6. Insert the reinforcement bracket into the access hole in the "D" pillar between the quarter window and liftgate opening as shown in Figure 1.

7. Hold the bracket in position and drive screw PN 9422202 through the screw hole in the pillar and into the bracket. Be sure the weld nut of the bracket is aligned with the large hole in the pillar before tightening the screw (Figure 1).

8. Move wiring harness away from the bolt hole and tape it down. Reinstall trim panel (Figure 4).

9. Install the upper shoulder belt PN 4476254 using bronze colored bolt PN 6031217 (K-17 is on bolt head). The white label on seat belt should face inside of car. Tighten bolt securely to 350 inch-pounds torque (Figure 1).

10. Repeat steps 1 through 9 for the other side.


Lower Rear Shoulder Belt Installation

1. Pull back the carpet and remove the attaching bolts (one per side) for the lower inner lap seat belts. (Figure 1)

NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE OR REARRANGE THE EXISTING SEAT BELTS.
2. Discard the existing bolts and substitute the red colored bolts, PN 6031216, in Step 3 (K-15 is on the bolt head).

3. Install lower shoulder belts, PN 4476257, on top of the existing lower inner seat belts and tighten the new bolts to 350 inch pounds torque (Figure 1). The white label on the seat belt should face down.

CAUTION: CHECK THAT BOTH THE LAP AND SHOULDER BELTS LATCH AND UNLATCH PROPERLY AND ARE INSTALLED AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 1. MAKE SURE THAT THE SEAT BELTS DO NOT CONTACT ANY SHARP EDGES THAT COULD CUT THE WEBBING.
L-Body 4-Door (Plymouth Horizon and Dodge Omni Four Door Hatchbacks)

CAUTION: THIS PACKAGE IS ONLY FOR DEALER INSTALLATION IN 1979 AND LATER MODELS LISTED ABOVE. DO NOT ATTEMPT INSTALLATION IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED PARTS.

Upper Rear Shoulder Belt Installation

1. Remove the quarter trim panel.

2. Locate the raised ring on the back side of the trim panel and drill a 1/8" (3.18 mm) pilot hole through the center of the ring (Figure 6).
3. Enlarge hole to 3/4" (19.05 mm).

4. Place reinforcement bracket, PN 4440887, in a vise and start screw, PN 9422202, in the small hole. Remove the screw.

5. Insert the reinforcement bracket into the access hole in the "C" pillar between the rear door opening and liftgate opening as shown in Figure 5.

6. Hold the bracket in position and drive screw, PN 9422202, through the screw hole in the pillar and into the bracket. Be sure the weld nut of the bracket is aligned with the large hole in the pillar before tightening the screw (Figure 5).

7. Reinstall the trim panel.

8. Install the upper shoulder belt, PN 4476254, using the bronze colored bolt, PN 6031217 (K-17 is on bolt head). The white label on seat belt should face inside of car. Tighten bolt securely to 350 inch pounds torque (Figure 5).
9. Repeat Steps 1 through 8 for the other side.

Lower Rear Shoulder Belt Installation

1. Pull back the carpet and remove the attaching bolts (one per side) for the lower inner lap seat belts.

NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE OR REARRANGE THE EXISTING SEAT BELTS.

2. Discard the existing bolts and substitute the red colored bolts PN 6031216 in Step 3 (K-15 is on the bolt head).
