CALIBRATION PROCEDURE
The electronic compass uses a magnetic field to find direction. All electronic compass units must be calibrated by the dealer as part of the Road Ready Delivery Program to assure that the compass is reading the proper direction.
In order to calibrate the compass, follow these steps:
1. Start the vehicle up and make sure that it is on a level surface as far away as possible from large metal objects.
2. Make sure the map lights are turned "Off", and the vehicle's doors are closed during the calibration procedure.
3. Start the calibration procedure by inserting a paper clip into the hole on the driver's side of the overhead unit (Prince), or the slot between the compass and U.S./Metric button (T.R.W.). A display reading of C1 should appear.
NOTE: FOR THE T.R.W. UNIT, IF THE C1 STAYS IN THE DISPLAY FOR LONGER THAN TWO MINUTES, IT WOULD INDICATE THAT A METAL OBJECT, OR A MAGNETIC MATERIAL IS IN THE OVERHEAD STORAGE CONSOLE, OR A MAGNETIC MOUNT ANTENNA IS ON THE ROOF, AND MUST BE REMOVED.
4. When the compass display starts blinking C2, turn the car around 180 degrees from its present position, then press the hole or slot again. The display should stop blinking and show a steady C2. When the calibration is complete, the display will show the outside temperature and the present vehicle direction.
NOTE: THE T.R.W. UNIT WILL LOSE THE CALIBRATION WHEN THE BATTERY OR MEMORY FEED IS DISCONNECTED, AND WILL REQUIRE RECALIBRATION.
