Upper Rear Shoulder Belt Installation
1. From inside of trunk, locate the 7/16" hole (11.1 mm) in the hinge support (Figure 20). Drill a 1/8" (3.18 mm) pilot hole up through the center of the 7/16" hole and through the shelf panel and shelf trim. (Trunk lid must be partially closed. An offset or right angle drill may be needed due to lack of space. Drill left and right sides.)
2. Remove shelf trim panel and enlarge the 1/8" holes to 1" (25.4 mm). On the New Yorker, the holes must also be cut in the rear window trim molding.
3. Enlarge pilot holes in the metal shelf panel and hinge support to 7/16" (Figure 20).
FIGURE 19 - (SEE FIGURE 20 FOR LEGEND):
4. Reinstall shelf trim panel and trim molding.

- For New Yorker, use the longer bolt, PN 6033528 (Figure 19).
6. As shown in Figure 19, insert bolt through seat belt anchor plate. Install washer, PN 6100129, on the bolt. White label on seat belt should face down.
FIGURE 20:
7. Insert the bolt and washer through the hole in the shelf trim. (The washer must go through the trim and contact the metal shelf panel.) From the trunk, install flange nut, PN 152477. Tighten nut securely to 350 inch pounds torque (Figure 20).
FIGURE 19 - (SEE FIGURE 20 FOR LEGEND):
8. Install trim cover, PN 4476258. Slide it over the seat belt anchor plate and bolt (Figure 19).
9. Repeat Steps 5 through 8 for the other side.

1. From inside of trunk, find the location for the bolt holes as shown in view "A" on Figure 22. Using the reinforcement mounting bracket as a template, place it up against the shelf panel and forward against the vertical wall of the shelf. Locate the bracket where the shelf panel metal overlaps the shelf extension. This point is approximately 3/8" outboard of the edge of the self extension (Figure 22).
2. Scribe a mark through the weld nut on to the shelf extension. (Color may be added to the sheetmetal to make the mark easier to see.)
3. Remove the reinforcement mounting bracket and drill a 1/8" (3.18 mm) pilot hole up at the mark through the shelf panel and shelf trim panel. Drill left and right side.
4. Carefully remove the shelf trim panel and enlarge the 1/8" pilot holes in the trim panel to 1" (25 mm).
5. Enlarge the 1/8" holes in the metal shelf panel to 7/16" (11.11 mm).
