Throttle Body: Service and Repair

All 1984-86 Models & 1987 Models W/Turbo I
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air cleaner to throttle body attaching screws, then loosen hose clamp and remove air cleaner adapter.
3. Remove accelerator, speed control and transmission kickdown cables and return spring.
4. Remove throttle cable bracket from throttle body, then disconnect electrical connector.
5. Disconnect vacuum hoses from throttle body, then loosen throttle body to turbocharger hose clamp.
6. Remove throttle body attaching screws, then the throttle body and gasket.
7. Reverse procedure to install.



1987 Models W/Turbo II & All 1988-89 Models
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove air cleaner hose clamp to throttle body, then the hose.
3. Remove accelerator cable, then disconnect AIS motor and TPS electrical connectors.
4. Disconnect vacuum hoses from throttle body.
5. Remove throttle body to intake manifold attaching nuts, then the throttle body and gasket.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
