SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Slow return to idle between shifts on manual transmission vehicles or long decels on automatic transmission vehicles. Noticeable only in cooler ambient temperatures.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition will only occur on first start after an overnight soak, where vehicle is driven without ever coming to a complete stop for more than two (2) seconds. Drive vehicle and try to duplicate condition without coming to a full stop. If condition occurs, stop vehicle for more than two (2) seconds and try to repeat condition. If condition cannot be duplicated, perform repair procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED
Before ordering the revised logic module or SMEC it will be necessary to identify the logic module or SMEC that is on the vehicle. This is necessary for emission compliance.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
This repair involves replacing the logic module or SMEC (single module engine controller) with a revised one.
1. Remove old module and install new module as outlined in the service manual.
2. Type the Authorized Modification Label, PN 4275086, as shown in Figure 1, and attach near the VECI label.
